Starting a Newsagency Business


We are often asked, why not just open a new newsagency, rather than buy an existing one ?


Whilst not impossible, even some of the biggest industry participants have failed to make some Greenfield sites viable.


In simplified summary, you need to provide compelling and very comprehensive Business Plans that you can meet minimum sales targets to get accounts and licenses; establish a new lease, shop-fit from scratch, and learn with little tutorial opportunity on how to do the numerous processes required to run an efficient newsagency. Then after all that outlay & time, open a business with no established trade.

In most cases, the cost of buying a smaller newsagency with existing trade, is less than starting a new one.
